alexandrite crystal bud vase

bud vase, alexandrite crystal, Bohemian or Central European manufacture, 1950s–1970s.
Free-blown with a massive lobed base and elongated circular-section neck. Alexandrite crystal changes colour according to the light source: violet-lilac in natural light, pink-red in artificial light, an effect produced by the addition of neodymium oxide to the glass composition.
