brass fly ashtray

pressure-cast brass ashtray with handcrafted finish, 1960s–1970s.
The form reproduces an oversized fly: wings with incised veining in dots and concentric lines, compound eyes, striped abdomen, three-pronged clawed legs.
The wings are hinged and open to reveal an inner ash tray and two concealed cigarette holders.
Stamped with a trefoil mark on the inside of the wings. Substantial weight, fine workmanship.
